TREE SEEDLINGS

Trees play a crucial role in our ecosystem, from combating climate change to providing essential wildlife habitats and improving livelihoods. Planting trees is vital for a healthy planet.

Mount Kenya Trust connects individuals and organisations to quality tree seedlings and communities with the resources to grow and plant trees effectively.

We use & encourage sustainable practices and prioritise native species whenever possible, ensuring the ecological integrity of our restoration projects.

Our focus on quality seedlings ensures successful reforestation and a greener future.

The Mount Kenya Trust Tree Nurseries are dedicated to providing diverse, high-quality tree seedlings to support conservation, reforestation, and beautification efforts. With a wide selection of species, from indigenous trees that restore ecological balance to carefully chosen exotic varieties, our nurseries cater to every planting need.

Our team sustainably sources seeds from the local landscape, nurturing them into robust seedlings with strong root systems and healthy growth. Prioritizing sustainable practices and native species, we ensure our seedlings thrive in diverse environments while maintaining ecological integrity.

Whether you're planting a small garden or embarking on a large-scale reforestation project, we have the perfect seedlings to bring your vision to life.

COMMUNITY NURSERIES

At Mount Kenya Trust, we empower local communities through training in establishing and managing tree nurseries. To ensure sustained growth and success, our Forester visits these groups regularly to monitor their progress and provide expert advice on nursery techniques, such as propagation for tree seedlings.

Our comprehensive support includes providing essential tools such as gumboots, spades, wheelbarrows and nursery essentials; shade nets; forest soil; propagation bags; and water harvesting equipment to set them up for success.

Beyond equipping communities, we actively promote livelihoods by buying seedlings from them and linking them to other buyers. We offer higher incentives for establishing seedlings of indigenous tree species to encourage ecological restoration. Community tree nurseries often engage women, empowering them economically and socially within their communities.

Together, we foster sustainable practices, improve livelihoods, and restore local ecosystems.
